Day 5: Popayan, the white city

- Transfer to the city of Popayan
- The best architects and craftsmen of the colonial period worked in Popayán, which, together with Cartagena de Indias, is one of the most important cities in Colombia for its architecture.
- On the way, enjoy the magnificent Páramo, a unique ecosystem of the tropical highlands. It’s the tropical water factory.

Day 6: The coffee region
- After breakfast, transfer by private car to the coffee area
- Arrival in a hacienda cafetera, i. e. a colonial house located in a coffee farm

- Afternoon free to enjoy the hacienda swimming pool or to stroll among the fruit trees and coffee plantations
- Dinner and night at the hacienda
Day 7: Charming villages
- Breakfast
- Visit the village of Cordoba where you will learn a lot about coffee production
- Tasting of the region’s drinks, as well as “chicharron”, the delicious fried pork belly
- Stroll through the picturesque alleys of Pijao, a colonial village hidden among the mountains.
- Visit the Mina coffee farm to enjoy a magnificent view of the hills and the art of making good coffee.
- Night at the hacienda
Day 8: Wax palm and hummingbirds
- A typical breakfast of corn cakes, fresh bread, exotic fruits and eggs
- Early morning departure to a nature reserve known for its great variety of hummingbirds
- Walk of about 5 hours in this hilly region which is full of water and you guessed it, hummingbirds
- Possibility to do, instead, another walk of 1 or 2 hours maximum
- Arrival at the Cocora Valley, cradle of the national tree: the wax palm tree. These trees, which seem to defy the sky, rise to a height of more than 70 metres
- Typical lunch in one of the best restaurants in the region
- A jeep ride in Willis, an all-terrain vehicle from the 1940s, widely used in the region to get to Salento
- Visit Salento, known as the village of 1000 colours and one of the most beautiful villages in Colombia. Surrounded by mountains and filled with balcony houses, it will transport you to another era
- Plant a wax palm tree to help reforest this endangered tree. It was widely used to extract wax and make candles from it, but it is now a protected species
- At the end of the day, return to your home in the coffee farm
- Night at the hacienda
Day 9: The incredible Salt Cathedral
